PURPOSE:The titled composition, obtained by incorporating glass fibers with an organobromine compound based flame retardant, antimony oxide and gypsum fibers and/or fibrous magnesium oxysulfate and having improved fluidity in molding, external appearance of molded articles and fire drip resistance in combustion. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polyester composition obtained by incorporating (A) 100pts.wt. aromatic polyester, preferably polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) with (B) 1-20pts.wt. glass fibers, preferably chopped strand having 3-6mm length, (C) 1-60pts.wt. organobromine compound with preferably >=20wt% bromine content, preferably brominated polycarbonate, (D) 1-40pts.wt. antimony oxide, preferably antimony trioxide, (E) 1-100pts.wt. gypsum fibers, preferably anhydrous gypsum and/or fibrous magnesium oxysulfate having >=5 aspect ratio and, as necessary, (F) 0-20pts.wt. polyfunctional epoxy compound and melt kneading the resultant mixture in an extruder. |
