PURPOSE:To obtain a recorder capable of confirming whether it is available for recording, by providing a detecting means for detecting the loading/unloading state of a vessel portion holding a recording medium etc. being made into cartridge form therein. CONSTITUTION:A valve 68 in a film cartridge 40 presses up a valve 67 in an ink vessel 64 through an ink vessel closing rod 70, resulting in the flow-out of an ink 4 contained in the ink vessel 64. With small holes 2a... on a film 2 filled with the ink 4, the bubbles generating in the ink 4 due to the feed of the film 2 and the quick-heating of heating elements 3... allow the ink 4 to be used as a recording ink drip 6. A thermal head 1 is provided with ink detecting elements 109, 112, and further the ink vessel 64 is provided with a replenishment ink detecting means consisting of an ink detecting LED75 and an ink detecting photosensor 76. When both the starved ink detecting signal from an ink detecting means 145 on the thermal head 1 and that from a replenishment ink detecting means 144 in the ink vessel 64 are generated, the unloaded state of the film cartridge 40 is detected. |
