PURPOSE:To offer a keyboard having high operability to both a plant operator and a maintenance engineer by constituting a keyboard with illumination type push-buttons which can change the character patterns and attaining the easy change the array of keys. CONSTITUTION:The inputs of key array switch instructions 15 and 16 given from a keyboard which is shared with a plant operator who prefers the alphabetical order of keys and a maintenance engineer who is familiar with the JIS array of keys are decided by a character string deciding circuit 1 and transmitted to a key array switching circuit 2. Then a character generating circuit 3 switches character patterns 4 and 5 according to the JIS or alphabetical array of keys and displays with switching a font character display part 12 on each push-button 11 of a keyboard main body 10. In the same way, a key code generating circuit 6 switches key code patterns 7 and 8 and sends the key code corresponding to a pushed key to a key input buffer 9.
