<p>Method comprises (a) shaking for 0.5-2 hrs. at ambient temp. a mixt. of acetylcarnitine chloride and thionyl chloride recently distilled in mol. ratio 1:1.5, (b) removing excess thionyl chloride, (c) dissolving the producted acyl chloride in methylene chloride, (d) adding an equiv. amt. of carnitine chloride and (e) maintaining the mixt. for 18-36 hrs. at 38-42 deg.C to give crude prod. which is dissolved in hot isopropyl alcohol and allowed to crystallise to give pure acetyl-dicarnitine dichloride (I).</p> |
