PURPOSE:To prevent a storage battery from becoming defective due to an insufficient amount of the liquid electrolyte by examining the battery at the point when an alarm signals that the liquid level of the electrolyte becomes lower than the lower level. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte container 1 constituting the plus terminal of a storage battery is equipped with a carbon bar which is used as a liquid-level- detecting electrode 5 and located within the horizontal plane of the lower liquid level line 2. The electrode 5 may also be either a metal such as Au or Pt or its plating product. A Schmidt trigger circuit is used as a switching circuit 7 driven by a storage battery. When the Schmidt trigger circuit is turned on, an alarm 8 signals the reduced liquid level of the electrolyte. When the liquid level of the electrolyte reduces to below the lower level line 2, the current from the electrode 5 is cut off. Consequently, the transistor 9 of the Schmidt trigger circuit turns off and the transistor 10 turns on, thereby feeding current to the alarm 8. |
