PURPOSE:To improve the straightening effect by placing alternately in a line a cooling device and a heating device in the upper and the lower parts in the width direction of a metallic plate, and also providing a line of the cooling device and the heating device by placing the metallic plate between them in the longitudinal direction, as well. CONSTITUTION:In the upper and the lower sides of a pass line, a cooling device 2 and a heating device 3 are placed alternately along the width direction of a steel plate 4. Also, the cooling device 2 and the heating device 3 are opposed to each other by placing the steel plate 4 between them, and placed so as to form a line. Next, in the upper and the lower sides of the pass line, the line of the cooling device 2 and the heating device 3 is provided by placing the steel plate 4 between them in the longitudinal direction of the steel plate 4, as well. The steel plate 4 is carried and advanced in the direction as indicated with an arrow 5, and in accordance with various strains of the steel plate 4, the cooling device 2 and the heating device 3 are selected and operated. According to this method, the straightening effect can be controlled delicately in the width direction and the longitudinal direction of the steel plate 4. Accordingly, the straightening effect of the metallic plate is improved.
