Riveter which comprises a guide space through which is supplied a riveting belt, feed means for supplying the rivet belt through the guide space in staggered fashion in equal increments in step with the branching portions, redirection means which can be actuated in a relationship of interlocking with the feed operation of the riveting means in order to flex the branching portion associated with the rivet located in a drive position in the guide space so that the rivet adopts an orientation which is different from that of the other rivets in the rivet belt, compression means for pushing the edge of the redirected rivet in order thus to compress the rivet of the bifurcation portion, and a reestablishment mechanism for reflexing and reestablishing the initial orientation of the branching portion flexed by the redirection means and once again guiding the reestablished branching portion to the guide space.
