<p>PURPOSE:To recover economically Ga from an acidic soln. contg. Ga in simple treating stages by adding a baser metal than Ga to the soln. to deposit Ga. CONSTITUTION:An acidic soln. contg. Ga as well as Zn, Fe, Al, As, etc. is reduced with a reducing agent to convert Fe<3+> into Fe<2+>, and As is removed up to <= about 10mg/l. The pretreated soln. is gently stirred and kept at 30- 70 deg.C. The pH is adjusted to 1.0-3.0. Powder of Zn which is a baser metal than Ga is then added to the soln. to deposit Ga by substitution. The reaction finishes in 0.5-1.0hr. Ga residue of >= about 10% high Ga grade can be formed while depositing Ga at >= about 90% rate of deposition.</p> |
