PURPOSE:To improve the liquid leakage resistance of a button-type air zinc battery, reduce the contact resistance between the catalyst layer and the inner wall of the positive case and achieve good electric characteristics by using a positive case the inner diameter of which is longer than the final inner diameter of the battery by a length of within a given range and making the top diameter of the positive case larger than its bottom diameter. CONSTITUTION:After an air diffusion paper is placed in the concave area 11a of a positive case bottom 11c, a water-repellent film and a positive catalyst layer are placed over the air diffusion paper in that order. Then, a gasket is attached to a negative case and then a negative active material is packed into the negative case. Next, after a negative case is attached to the positive case, the thus obtained body is caulked and sealed. During this step, the entire side wall of the positive case or its section extending from its bottom to its upper opening end is drawn into the final dimension (A) of the inner diameter. As the result, the distance between the positive catalyst layer and the inner wall of the positive case becomes zero and the periphery of an Ni net in the positive catalyst layer completely touches the inner wall of the positive case. Consequently, the contact resistance of the battery is significantly reduced. |
