PURPOSE:A catalytic component consisting of a catalytic reaction product of a specific solid composition, a liquid Ti compound and an Si halide, having high reactivity and providing a polymer having relatively large particle diameters and controlled particle diameter distribution when it is used for olefin polymerization. CONSTITUTION:(A) A solid composition obtained by bringing a precipitating agent such as TiCl4, etc. into contact with a solution of a catalytic reaction product of a dihalogenated Mg (e.g., MgF2, MgCl2, etc.) and a titanium alkoxide [e.g., Ti(OC2H5)4, Ti(O-nC4H9)4, etc.] and/or its polymer (e.g., normal butyl polytitanate, etc.) while stirring at stirring strength in a range of flotation limit stirring strength (nf) - twice as much as the strength is brought into contact with (B) a liquid Ti compound [e.g., TiCl4, Ti(OC2H5)Cl3, etc.] and/or an Si halide compound (e.g., SiCl4, HSiCl3, etc.), to give the aimed catalytic component.
