PURPOSE:To read a medium which is recorded by a single track, by an FDD of a double track, as well, and also to recording the medium of the single track by the double track FDD, by applying a selecting signal of the double track and the single track to a control signal of the FDD. CONSTITUTION:A PG1 is a pulse generator for generating one pulse against one STP pulse, and a pulse rate of an STP and a pulse rate of an output of the PG1 are the same. A PG2 generates two pulses against one STP pulse, and a pulse rate of an output of the PG2 is half of that of the STP. Both the pulses are selected by a WTR. Two flip-flops FF1, FF2 form a shift register for generating a phase by said pulse. Between the FF1 and FF2, several gates are placed, and a shift direction of a signal can be selected by a DIR.
