摘要 PURPOSE:To control the quantity of a laser beam without disordering the position of a diffracted laser beam by providing a means which varies the total level of an acoustic signal applied to an acoustooptic element according to external operation. CONSTITUTION:An acoustic signal 12 outputted by the driving circuit 3 of an acoustooptic modulator is supplied to a transducer 2 to drive the acoustooptic element 1. For example, when a resistance position (a) is selected with a control signal 8, almost all the laser light 9 incident on the acoustooptic element 1 is diffracted with an input signal 7 on and outputted as shown by a solid line 11. Namely, the quantity of diffracted laser light 11 is large. When a resistance position (b) is selected with the control signal 8, on the other hand, acoustic power inputted to the acoustooptic element 1 is small, so the quantity of the diffracted laser light 11 decreases.
