PURPOSE:To prevent excessive discharge from a battery by constituting such that current supplied to a motor of an electric power steering device can be controlled within limits according to the battery voltages. CONSTITUTION:When turning a steering wheel 1 in the captioned device, the turning ability by the use of the steering wheel 1 is detected as steering torques by means of a torque sensor 2. Output signals corresponding to the steering torques are transmitted from a controller 3 to a motor 11 and the power of the motor 11 is transmitted by way of a clutch 14 and a reduction gear 15 to a steering system to assist steering force. In this case, a means (not shown in the drawing) is provided for voltage detection of terminal voltages of a battery 12 charged by an engine-driven alternator 13. And it is so arranged that current supplied to the motor 11 is limited according to the detected value of the voltage and specifically it is so constituted that the battery voltage is secured by lowering the current limit value in the control circuit.
