PURPOSE:To couple an optical fiber and an optical element with each other with high efficiency without any position shift by positioning a support member and a fitting member while monitoring the photodetection current of the optical element, and then rotating and irradiating branch laser light along an annular joint part and welding the joint part at plural positions at the same time by a laser. CONSTITUTION:While the light output of a light emitting element 1 is monitored on an optical power meter 10, the support member 7 is moved and adjusted by operating an XYZ fine adjusting device 9 so that the indication of the optical power meter 10 is maximum. Then, the light emitting element 1 and optical fiber 6 are positioned and then the laser 12 is oscillated. A laser beam projected by the laser 12 is branched by an optical fiber branch part 15 equally to respective fibers 14 for laser light irradiation to illuminate the joint part 13 from respective projection ends. The laser light is irradiated by several pulses in the beginning to perform temporary fixation and then while an optical fiber holder 16 is rotated by a rotary driving device 17, the laser irradiation is carried out. Consequently, the circumferential welding of the joint part 13 is performed.
