PURPOSE:To obtain a simplified apparatus of a low cost by separately carrying out anti-skid control for each of a plurality of wheels, selecting the highest wheel speed of the wheels to be controlled and obtaining a pseudo-speed from the selected high wheel speed to be used for the anti-skid control. CONSTITUTION:Anti-skid control means for the right front wheel 1, left front wheel 2 and two rear wheels 3, 4 is composed of actuators 17a to 17c provided in lines to wheel cylinders 1a to 4a and an anti-skid control circuit 18 for con trolling them them. The control circuit 18 includes a high-select switch 40 for selecting the highest value of the wheel speeds Vw1 to Vw3 given by wheel speed detecting circuits 31a to 31c and a pseudo-speed generator circuit 27 for obtaining the highest pseudo-speed Vw from the highest wheel speed. The generator circuit 27 is so constructed as to produce a pseudo-speed Vi from a predetermined operation expression on the basis of the pseudo-speed Vw and a MR signal from a retriggerable timer 30 and to transmit a vehicle speed signal ViH.
