PURPOSE:To reproduce a distinct image without damaging a tape even at the time of running of fast-feeding and rewinding, by providing an azimuth head having an inclination against a control head. CONSTITUTION:A modulated signal passes through a recording amplifier 35 containing an amplifier circuit, and it is recorded onto a tape by an azimuth head 36 whose azimuth angle is different from a control head. When executing a reproduction, a video signal does not appear in the control head due to an azimuth effect, and only a control pulse appears. On the other hand, the control pulse and the video signal are superposed to the azimuth head 36. As for a reproducing signal which has passed through a reproducing amplifier 37, the control pulse is separated, and only the video signal exists. The reproduced video signal is separated into a video signal data and a clock by a demodulation circuit 38. The separated signal data is a serial data, therefore, converted to its original signal data by an S/P conversion circuit 39, and returned to a memory 32. The signal which has been stored temporarily in the memory is returned to its original analog video signal by a D/A converter 40.
