PURPOSE:To prevent the tip of cutting edge from generation of chipping by using a polishing tray consisting of a polishing plate and a resilient body coated thereon in the form of a SiO2 film and by processing a monocrystal CBN (cubic crystaline boron nitride) tool with this resilient body. CONSTITUTION:A polishing tray 7 is rotated in the direction of arrow, wherein the tray is composed of a polishing plate 7a and a resilient body 7b in the form of SiO2 film coated thereon. To this resilient body 7b, the tip of a cutting edge of a monocrystal CBN tool 9 is pressed by its own weight, wherein the tool 9 is held on a tool mounting table 8. Accordingly, eventual vertical vibration of the tray 7 generated right across its rotating direction due to rotation can be absorbed by said resilient body 7b to assure reduction of impact forces. Thus the tip of cutting edge of the monocrystal CBN tool 9 can be prevented from generation of chipping. |
