In the assembly and disassembly of helical springs for use in vehicles and the like, the necessary compression of the springs is executed using a band-tensioning device of a type which is known per se. Such a band-tensioning device comprises a tensioning band 3 and a band- tensioning device 4, which has a rotary band-winding roller 7 fixedly connected to ratchet members 8 in mesh with spring-loaded displaceable locking members 12 and which allows successive tensioning of the band 3, and hence compression of the spring 1, through rotation of the winding roller 7. <IMAGE> |
