PURPOSE:To permit any worker to perform high quality edge preparation of a work in a moment with no scattering of cutting chips, by adapting the edge point end of a turnable punch to the work just in the vicinity of its end to be pressurized. CONSTITUTION:A device, rotatably mounting the upper part of a punch 1 to a bracket 3 by a pin 2, moves the punch 1 to be rotated. Both right and left ends (angle B and angle A) in the bottom end edge point are formed to a suitable angle in accordance with material hardness of a work, its edge preparation angle and cut width (depth). The device, lowering an upper mold and bringing the edge point of the punch 1 into contact with the work 5 on a die 7, cut the work 5 by a direction of rotation of the punch 1. Here a stopper 8 turns the punch 1 only in a fixed direction to change its contact angle with the work 5 by a position movement, and the device, adjusting the edge preparation angle and the cut width (depth), obtains a stable position of the punch 1 after its edge preparation.
