PURPOSE:To make it possible to detect an air/fuel ratio in a wide range, by feeding oxygen into the side of an electrode provided with a diffusion resistor and measuring oxygen concn. by an output signal showing the movement of oxygen. CONSTITUTION:The outside of an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte 10 is covered with a first porous electrode 12 comprising platinum and the inside thereof is covered with a second porous electrode comprising platinum while a porous diffusion resistor 16 is provided to the outside of the electrode 12 and a protective layer 18 is provided to the outside of said resistor 16. A lead film 28 extends to the terminal part of the electrolyte 10 along the inside thereof and contacted with a pressing metal fitting 30 while the electrode 12 is connected to a metal fitting 24 through a lead film 42. After oxygen is sent into the side of the first electrode 12 from the second electrode, oxygen is withdrawn from the side of the second electrode and a signal showing the movement of oxygen corresponding to the oxygen concn. in measuring gas at this time is led out from terminals 32, 44 and the oxygen concn. in the measuring gas is measured by a control/measuring circuit 100. |
