PURPOSE:To prevent the output torque of an engine from dropping, by providing such an arrangement that the engaging force of a clutch is controlled to be gradually decreased when the clutch is disengaged in such a condition that the engine torque is positive during, for example, acceleration. CONSTITUTION:T torque converter 3 is provided in parallel with a damper clutch 4 as a variable engaging force type clutch, for transmitting engine torque to a transmission 2 by passing the torque converter 13, and is connected with a control valve 9 for controlling the supply amount and pressure of hydraulic oil for the clutch 4, through a clutch engaging fluid passage 7 and a clutch releasing oil passage 8, the control valve 19 being controlled to be changed over by controlling the solenoid valve 12 through a control unit 13. Further, the control unit 13 instructs the initiating time of release of the clutch 4 to gradually decrease the engaging force of the clutch 4 when the latter is released in a condition in which the engine torque is positive. |
