PURPOSE:To eliminate a baring by composing the moving member of a linear motor by a magnetic coupling force of the member with a stationary member through a rolling member held at a supporting member independent from the stationary member. CONSTITUTION:The first and second coils 61, 62 are connected at the center, and a current I is supplied to generate a relative thrust force F between a stationary member 1 and a movable member 2 by the mutual action of the current I and the magnetic fluxes of the first and second gaps 131, 132. Accordingly, the member 2 linearly move with respect to the member 1 through a rolling member 9 by the force F in an X-axis direction in the drawings. Here, a shaft 12 for rotatably supporting the member 9 and a supporting member 11 merely determine the positions of the members 9 but do not receive loads by the generated thrust forces F, thereby eliminating the necessity of using bearings.
