PURPOSE:To maintain the state having less signal errors such as drop-out and drop-in even after long-period repetitive use by disposing a pulverous particle coating layer on a high-polymer film of which the thermal shrinkage in the longitudinal direction is 30-60% of the thermal shrinkage in the transverse direction and providing a thin ferromagnetic metallic film formed by a diagonal vapor deposition method thereon. CONSTITUTION:A PE terephthalate film 2 has the thermal shrinkage of which the ratio between the longitudinan direction and the horizontal direction is in a 30-60% range. The pulverous particle coating layer 13 is formed by fixing pulverous silican particles by an epoxy regin onto the surface of the film 12. The Co-O film 14 formed by the diagonal vapor deposition method has 84:16 ratio of Co:O by atomic % and the formation of said film is executed by electron beam vapor deposition of Co in oxygen partial pressure while moving the film along a cylindrical can.
