PURPOSE:To detect and correct error in an inputting sentence such as errors of words and declensional KANA (Japanese syllabary) ending at an arbitrary point by providing a sentence error detecting and correcting means. CONSTITUTION:The titled processor is provided with an input device 1, an edition processor 2, an output device 3, and a word dividing device 4 and a syntax/meaning analyzer 5 as the sentence error detecting and correcting means. A sentence (a) inputted through the input device 1 is made to an output C by the word dividing device 4. The character string enclosed by a rectangular frame calls user's attention. For instance, 'kinow' (yesterday) corrected to right 'kinow' corrected by searching a homonym, and 'Kanbei Kuroda' (person' s name) is accepted to be right, and 'itadaita' is corrected to 'itadaita' by referring to a dictionary with a top KANJI as a key. In terms of a complex error such as an auxiliary verb, the syntax/meaning analyzer 5 detects that 'ni(R) (to) in 'ha ni itadaita' is wrong, and corrects it to '0'.
