PURPOSE:To enable printing to be conducted even on a paper placed on a desk and a printing-starting position to be arbitrarily set, by providing a key for moving the position of a printing head so that printing can be started at an arbitrary position. CONSTITUTION:A main body 11 of a calculator is placed on a recording paper placed on a desk or the like, and calculation is started. Outputs from each key are inputted into a CPU 2 to be processed, and the results of processing are sequentially displayed on a display part 3. When it is desired to print out the result, a head-moving key 1R or 1L for setting a printing-starting position of a thermal head 6 at a desired position of the paper is operated, and a corresponding output is given to a head movement controlling part 7, whereby a controlling command HCR for rightward movement or a controlling command HCR for rightward movement or a controlling command HCL for leftward movement is given to a head-moving mechanism 8. Accordingly, the thermal head 6 is correspondingly moved rightward or leftward by the mechanism 8, and is set at the desired position.
