PURPOSE:To enhance the control ability of an engine in a low or crawling speed range so that the degree of depression of an accelerator pedal is reduced and the response of the engine is enhanced, by providing a plurality of converting means for determining the drive position of an actuator in accordance with depression degree of the accelerator pedal. CONSTITUTION:A signal from a sensor 7 at an accelerator pedal is delivered to an accelerator depression amount detecting and processing section 9 in an electronic control device 8 including an actuator drive section 14 which delivers a signal to a throttle actuator 3 for controlling the opening degree of a throttle valve, that is, a converting means is constituted. The converting means is changed over each time when a speed change gear is shifted. With this arrangement, it is possible to enhanced the control ability of the engine in a low or crawling speed range, and therefore to aim at reducing the amount of depression of the accelerator pedal and at improving the response of the engine.
