摘要 PURPOSE:To effectively suppress the generation of knocking by allowing an engine output characteristic selecting means to select the first output setting means before knocking is generated in the degree over a prescribed value in a specific operation range and to select the second output selecting means after said generation. CONSTITUTION:An engine output characteristic selecting means selects the output characteristic by the first output setting means until the knock is generated at the degree over a prescribed value in a specific operation range, and selects the output characteristic by the second output setting means after the generation of the knock. Therefore, when the absolute quantity of supplied oil is little or the pouring quantity for the rest quantity is little, it is judged that the fuel having a high octane number is used according to the degree of the actual generation of knock, and the engine output characteristic is increased, while when it is judged that the fuel having a low octane number is used, the output characteristic is reduced. Therefore, the generation of knocking can be effectively suppressed without particularly detecting the octane number itself of the fuel.
