<p>PURPOSE:To improve the resistance of a stainless steel to corrosion by a high concn. nitric acid soln. having strong oxidizing power as well as a low concn. nitric acid soln. by restricting the amounts of C, Si, Mn, P, S, Ni, Cr and N to a prescribed percentage each. CONSTITUTION:This stainless steel proof against nitric acid consists of, by weight, <=0.03% C, 2-7% Si, <=10% Mn, <=0.03% P, <=0.03% S, 18-24% Ni, 18-28% Cr, 0.1-0.3% N and the balance Fe. The stainless steel has high resistance to corrosion by a high concn. nitric acid soln. having strong oxidizing power and contg. Cr ions as well as a low concn. nitric acid soln.</p> |
