NEW MATERIAL:A trihaloimidazole derivative expressed by the formula (R is 2-5C haloalkyl, halogen-substituted 2-propenyl or halogen-substituted 2- propyl). EXAMPLE:1-(4-Bromobutox)-2-bromo-4,5-dichloroimidazole. USE:An insecticide and acaricide having high insecticidal and acaricidal effect on insects and mites exhibiting resistance to insecticides and acaricides. PREPARATION:2-Bromo-4,5-dichloromidiazole is reacted with a halomethyl ether expressed by the formula XCH2OR (X is halogen) in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent to afford the aimed compound expressed by the formula.
