Provided is a rechargeable battery with a cover, capable of easily manufacturing a case and easily inserting an electrode assembly into the case. The rechargeable battery according to one aspect of the present invention comprises: an electrode assembly including a first electrode and a second electrode; a case accommodating the electrode assembly; a first terminal electrically connected with the first electrode; a second terminal electrically connected with the second electrode; a cap plate coupled to the case and having a short-circuit hole; a membrane fixed to the cap plate and electrically separating or disconnecting the first electrode from the second electrode; and a short-circuit projection electrically connected with the second electrode and arranged on an upper portion of the membrane to protrude toward the membrane. The short-circuit projection is disposed to be inclined to one side from the center of the short-circuit hole.
