PURPOSE:To obtain a sliver having constantly uniform grain value, by changing the drafting ratio of a short fiber bundle with a particular pattern and applying the obtained lap to a comber. CONSTITUTION:In some processors such as comber, the grain value of finished sliver changes gradually during the operation from the initiation to the end thereof even if the lap formed by a lapping machine and supplied to the processor has constantly uniform grain value. The sliver unreeled from the creel 12 of the lapping machine is drafted in the drafting part 14 at a drafting ratio varying according to a pattern corrected so as to get a sliver having constantly uniform grain value by the above processor such as comber.
