PURPOSE:To obtain yarns of large fineness, e.g. >=30 denier fiber fineness with good uniformity without causing melt sticking, by blowing cold air on filaments extrudes through a spinneret to cool primarily the filaments and cooling the primarily cooled filament yarn in a water-cooled bath. CONSTITUTION:Extruded filaments (Y) are cooled with cold air flowing in the direction of arrow (a) and then introduced into water in a water-cooled bath (B) and the taken off at <=100m/min spinning speed by a taking off device. Thus, the aimed synthetic filament yarns having good uniformity and >=30 denier fiber fineness can be obtained while preventing the melt sticking of the filaments in the liquid filament sate just after extrusion by the primary cooling with the cold air and preventing the melt sticking of the filaments due to filament sway by the secondary cooling in the water-cooled bath.
