PURPOSE:To obtain a Chinese herb extract having excellent disintegrability, by adding and reacting amylase to the extracted or concentrated liquid of Chinese herb, drying and pulverizing the reaction product and optional mixing with an excipient such as sugar, cellulose, etc. CONSTITUTION:Chinese herb drug [e.g. KAKKON-TO (decocted root of Pueraria lobata), ANCHU-SAN (mixed powder of the root of Glycyrrhiza glaba, rhizome of Zingiber officinale, etc.), KOSAIKO-TO, etc.] is extracted with a solvent (e.g. water, aqueous solution of ethanol of <=25% concentration), and the extracted liquid or its concentrate is reacted with amylase. The amount of amylase is preferably 0.005-0.1wt% based on the starch in the liquid. The reaction liquid is dried and the obtained powder is used as it is or mixed with an excipient (e.g. sugar, starch, dextrin, etc.) to obtain a Chinese herb extract having various forms (e.g. tablet, capsule, powder, etc.). The obtained herb extract has excellent disintegrability.
