PURPOSE:To transmit a 2-channel voice signal without insertion of a synchronizing signal by using a prescribed pattern modulation output when a voice signal is silent so as to decide the order of separation. CONSTITUTION:A delay bit of a delta modulation output 1 of a channel 1 through a shift register 2 is compared with a silent signal pattern 2 by a comparator 4. When the output 1 is coincident with the pattern 2 and the delay output is coincident with a delta modulation output of a channel 2, an EX-OR circuit 9 inverts the output of a memory 8 and a specific pattern is outputted from a multiplexer 11. A multiple input 13 is inputted to a shift register 14 at the reception side and when the pattern is coincident with the specific pattern 15, a signal is outputted to a separation counter 18 to control a separation conversion circuit 21 thereby separating the channel from the channel 1.
