The primary (10) and secondary (11) windings of the transformer are nominally dimensioned for the lowest nominal mains voltage level occurring. In order to regulate at all times the current pattern in the primary winding at a level which ensures that the required output voltage is received from the secondary winding over appropriate terminals (13,14) with a thyristor (15) incorporated in the primary winding. - The thyristor obtains its ignition voltage from the output terminals, the voltage is stabilised form occurring over a capacitance (16) on the output from a rectifier (17) connected to a secondary circuit. The output voltage monitored on leads (18,19) has a constant dimension, i.e. is not allowed to increase or diminish since any tendencies in the leads bring about an immediate adjustment of the ignition time point for the thyristor.
