PURPOSE:To improve the operating efficiency of the system without avoiding the intermission of the telegraphic transmission by sending picture information in matching with the residual quantity of a recording medium at the reception station side from a transmission station in sending a picture. CONSTITUTION:A residual quantity detection control section 10 sets residual information 9 of a recording medium to identification information 5 and a facsimile equipment 2 receiving call information 4 from a facsimile equipment 1 sends the identification information 5. Then a transmission control means 11 of the facsimile equipment 1 sends picture information 6 below the information quantity represented by the residual information 9 informed by the identification information 5. Thus, in sending a picture image, since the picture information in matching with the residual quantity of the recording medium of the reception station side is sent, the telegraphic transmission is not intermitted to improve the operating efficiency of the system.
