PURPOSE:To maintain the balance of an alpha+beta Ti alloy between strength and toughness independently of the working history by subjecting the Ti alloy to soln. heat treatment, heat treatment and aging under prescribed conditions. CONSTITUTION:A worked material of an alpha+beta Ti alloy is subjected to soln. heat treatment at the beta-transformation point -20-70 deg.C. It is cooled to <=500 deg.C at 0.5-8 deg.C/sec cooling rate and aged at 540-650 deg.C for 4-10hr. Thus, an alpha+beta Ti alloy having a good balance between strength and toughness is obtd. independently of the working history.
