The distillation vessel has a container receiving a liquid, which container is furnished with a heater which heats the liquid. The heater is configured as a contact heater firmly attached to the container, so that the distillation vessel can be directly heated without a heat transport medium. In order to achieve satisfactory evaporation of the liquid, even when only a small amount thereof is located in the container, the contact heater can extend beneath a base closing the container. Moreover, in this way the contact heater can be given a configuration which is particularly simple and thus cost-effective to manufacture. The contact heater can have a shape which corresponds to a cross-section of the container in the region of the base.
