The invention relates to a film welding (heat-sealing) unit for domestic film bags made of thermoplastic material, the housing of which unit is provided with a welding bar having an electrical heating device. On the housing of the unit there is hinged a welding stirrup which has a pressing bar interacting with the welding bar, between which pressing bar and welding bar a two-layer film web can be welded to form a closed bag. On the housing of the unit, apart from the welding stirrup, there is hinged a holding stirrup fixing the film bag on the housing of the unit and operating a suction fan. The holding stirrup can be locked on the housing of the unit. On operation of the welding stirrup it is unlocked. The welding stirrup and holding stirrup are led back together. Apart from the holding stirrup, the welding stirrup of the film welding unit can also be locked on the housing of the unit. An operating device unlocking the welding stirrup is arranged in the housing of the unit.
