PURPOSE:To increase the discharge capacity of a battery, by using a composite oxide (MoV2O8) as the active material of a positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:An equimolar mixture of V2O5 and MoO3 is caused to perform reaction at a high temperature to produce a composite oxide MoV2O8 which is difficult to dissolve in an electrolyte solution and has a crystal structure that the metal ions of the active material of a negative electrode easily move into an out of the composite oxide. A battery is composed of a positive electrode 1 whose active material is the composite oxide MoV2O8, the negative electrode 3 whose active material is a light metal such as Li and Na or an alloy of the metal, and the nonaqueous electrolyte solution. As a result, the discharge capacity and cyclic property of the battery are enhanced. |
