The invention relates to an expansion device (16) fitted in a pressurised liquid reservoir. The expansion device (16) includes, for the purpose of pressure equalisation, a flexible diaphragm (17) which is arranged to separate a pre-pressurised gas volume, provided inside the shell (11) of the liquid reservoir, and the liquid space from one another. The pre-pressurised gas space is formed by an expansion diaphragm (17) which is connected to the inspection and maintenance hatch (19) in the shell (11) of the liquid reservoir (10).
