PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of wasteful space, to shorten the optical path length and to decrease the inserting loss by constituting so that the position of an S wave and P wave beam weights f1 and f2 can be mutually the same in the proceeding direction of the light. CONSTITUTION:The light passing through electric optical elements 30 and 31 passes through the second lenses 33 and 34 and comes to be parallel beam again. The light through the second lenses 33 and 34 are made incident on a polarizing synthetic device 12 and the P wave and the S wave are made synthetic. The optical path is changed over in accordance with the voltage applied between electrodes 301 and 302, and 311 and 312. The light passing through lenses 27 and 28 links focuses f5 and f6 mutually at the same position in the proceeding direction of the light, and therefore, the electric optical elements 30 and 31 can be provided at the position where dislocation will not occur mutually concerning the proceeding direction of the light. Consequently, since there is not a wasteful space and the optical path length in the space propagating part can be made short, the total inserting loss can be minimized.
