The invention relates to a spray device for a cutting drum which is rotatable about an axis running perpendicularly to a cutting arm. Arranged in a fixed position on the cutting arm is a feed disc (12) on which the connection (18) for the feed line of the spray water is located. Rotatably mounted in the feed disc (12) is a distributor wheel (19) which is provided with radial passages (21) and shut-off valves (23) arranged therein. The spray water is supplied to the radial passages (21) of the distributor wheel (19) via a rotary transmission leadthrough (20). The distributor wheel (19) is driven in synchronism by the cutting drum (8). In the process, the shut-off valves (23) are opened in succession in a controlled manner, as a result of which the line connection between the distributor wheel and the drum body (15) of the shearing drum (8) is made. <IMAGE>
