Method of operating an apparatus for continuous gravimetric dosing and pneumatic transport of bulk material which is conveyed by conveyor over a measuring section in which the conveyor is designed as a rotor 1 with an essentially vertical axis, which is arranged in a pressuretight manner in a housing 2 and provided with transport cells 13a, 13b. The housing 2 has a filling opening and an emptying station with connections to the lines of a pneumatic transport system. In the interspaces 22, 64, 72 between the rotor 1 and the housing 2 and/or in the rotor 1 itself, air under pressure can expediently be introduced. In this way, during transport from a storage container, through the filling opening, the pockets of the rotor and the emptying opening, and in particular at the transitions between the moving and the fixed parts, material being transported can be prevented from entering said interspaces and settling in these and in this way reducing the weighing accuracy and bringing about increased wear of the apparatus parts and at the same time resulting in a greater torque being necessary to drive the rotor. <IMAGE>
