PURPOSE:To improve the reproducibility of a character by executing a hard copying by performing an interpolation by a dot corresponding to the respective conditions that a picture element exists, and does not exist, when interpolating a video signal on which a display signal is not loaded. CONSTITUTION:A sampling circuit 10 samples a data of a raster number 1, and stored it in the second memory 40 through the first memory 20. Subsequently, a data of a raster number 2 is sampled, and written in the first memory 20. A CPU 60 checks a logic of the data of the raster number 2 in order of a dot. In case the logic is '0' (no picture element exists), the data being in a position of b1 is interpolated to, for instance, a position of a1, on the second memory 40. On the other hand, in case of the logic is '1' (a picture element exists), the data being in a position of, for instance, a2 is written as it is in the second memory 40. In such a way, a character shown in Y1 is brought to a hard copy as shown by Y2 or Y3.
