PURPOSE:To increase the effective caliber of main lens by arranging a barrier board for splitting three electron beams only near the opposite facing endfaces in the electrode for constituting main lens in an inline electron gun. CONSTITUTION:Inline type electron gun of color picture tube is comprising means for generating three electron beams, and outercircumferential electrode such as third, fourth grids 11, 12, etc. constructing main lens for focusing the electron beam onto a fluorescent face. Here, barrier boards 113, 114 and 123, 124 for splitting three electron beams are arranged in the grids 11, 12 where the installing position is set back from the facing ends of the grids 11, 12 thus to increase the gap between the barrier boards. Consequently, the outercircumferential electrodes 11, 12 can be made as large as possible in the neck tube to increase the effective caliber of main lens resulting in improvement of the focus characteristic.
