PURPOSE:To obtain a large number of stable gradations by windening the latitude of energy applied to a thermal head, by mixing a colorant in the wax layer of a thermal transfer recording ink sheet. CONSTITUTION:An ink sheet 8 is constituted by forming a wax layer 11 containing a colorant such as pigment or a dye to a base material through an ink layer 10. In performing transfer recording by using this thermal transfer recroding ink sheet 8, when energy applied to a thermal head reaches a predetermined amount, the upper wax layer 11 containing pigment is melted at first and the lower ink layer 10 is subsequently melted. Therefore, because the latitude of energy applied at the time of gradation is made available widely even if the quantity of energy becomes large at the time of gradation, a large number of various stable gradations are obtained. |
