PURPOSE:To attain accurate recording or reproducing of information even when a dust is attaching or a scratch exists in an optical card by providing an optical card cleaning device having a means to apply index-matching liquid on the card. CONSTITUTION:When an optical card 20 is inserted in an inlet 15, the insertion of the card 20 is detected by such as a microswitch or photosensor, and the card is transferred into an optical card cleaning device 30 by a couple of drive rollers 16. Then the card passes between a dust-removing roller 31 and a subsidary roller 32 being pressed with such pressure that the surface of it is not injured, and the dusts 24 are removed. Thereafter, the card 20 passes between a liquid-applying roller 33 soaked with the index-matching liquid and a passive roller 34, to be applied with the index-matching liquid. The part where the scratch 25 exists is filled with the liquid, and a protecting layer 23 on the surface of the optical card 20 is made flat.
