PURPOSE:To eliminate the need to erase character data stored in a storage part and enable a character printed before a change in character size to be automatically corrected, by a system wherein when automatically correcting a character, character data and character size corresponding to the printing position of the character to be corrected are read from a storage part, and the character is corrected. CONSTITUTION:When an input through a character key or the like is supplied from a keyboard part 2, character data and character size data corresponding to the character key are stored into the storage part 4 at a storage address corresponding to the printing position, and a printing operation is conducted. On the other hand, when a correction key in the keyboard part 2 is operated, the character data and the character size data are taken out from the storage address corresponding to the correcting position, and the character data and the character size data at the storage address are erased. Then, character size is once changed according to the character size data taken out, and a correcting operation is conducted based on the character data. After the correcting operation is completed, character size is returned to the character size presently indicated by a character size changing switch 5.
