PURPOSE:To enhance resolution in development processing of a photographic emulsion high in sensitivity and to stabilized photographic performance by incorporating silver halide host grains, silver halide guest grains epitaxially combined with them, and the silver salt of an N-contg. heterocyclic compound in the emulsion. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide host grains composed essentially of silver iodide are grown into spherical, cubic, octahedral forms or the like, and silver halide guest grains different from the host grains, such as silver chloride or chloribromide, are combined epitaxially with the host grains, and a compound having an N-contg. hetero ring combinable with a silver ion, such as an imidazole, triazole, or teraazole ring, is added to form its silver salt decreased in the solubility product in water lower than silver bromide, and these silver halide grains and this silver salt re added to the silver halide emulsion, thus high sensitivity characteristics to be attained by development and photographic performance to be stabilized. |
